Retouching

July 20, 2014

How important is retouching?

Retouching is a critical step in creating a professional image. It emphasizes qualities and reduces flaws, whether it is subject's or photographer's shortcoming. Retouching should be subtle, yet sufficient in refining the final image. Over-retouched images often carry a plastic, artificial look. Proper retouching is not achieved using filters, rather manually applied, just like make-up. Retouching is an intricate aspect of a powerful image and should be a part of every successful photo-shoot.
